Angeles Ortega is the CEO of Mi Casa Resource Center®. Prior to joining Mi Casa, she served as Director of Advancement at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. In her role, she was responsible for ensuring annual and long-term funding for the Museum. Additionally, she worked for the U. S. Census Bureau in both the Denver and Charlotte, North Carolina Regions.
Ms. Ortega brings nonprofit leadership experience from serving as Executive Director of the Latin American Coalition, a social service organization serving the needs of the Latino community in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Region. Originally from Mexico, she studied Languages at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, México, and Nonprofit Management at the University of Nevada-Reno. In 2009 she earned an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. In 2016 she graduated from the Latino Leadership Institute at Denver University.
Angeles Ortega serves on several community boards including the Denver Art Museum Audience Alliance, The Ricardo Flores Magon Academy. She is a Fellow of the William Friday Leadership Initiative, a graduate of Leadership Charlotte class XXI, American Leadership Forum, and the Latino Leadership Institute.
Additionally, Angeles has received several awards including Hero of Democracy, Charlotte Observer, The Business Journal’s Diversity Catalyst award, NAACP Legal Defense Fund Community Service Award, Hispanic Elected Official’s Community Service Award, and Community Service Award, La Noticia Newspaper.
