Leadership Team
Angeles Ortega
Chief Executive Officer
Angeles joined Mi Casa Resource Center® as Chief Executive Officer in February 2021. In her role, she oversees the organization’s management, funding, and strategic planning processes. Previously, she served as Director of Advancement at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and as Executive Director of the Latin American Coalition in Charlotte, NC. Originally from Mexico, Angeles holds degrees in Languages and Nonprofit Management and a Master’s in Business Administration.
Nishana John
Director of Human Resources & Administration
Nishana has been in her Director role with Mi Casa Resource Center® since early 2021. She oversees all human resources activities, including hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. Nishana joined Mi Casa in 2015 after volunteering with the organization for nearly two years. She received her Master’s in Organizational Leadership and is passionate about helping organizations build successful relationships with their greatest asset – their people.
Cris Cardenas
Director of Finance
Cris joined Mi Casa Resource Center® in the Fall of 2022, leading Mi Casa’s financial/accounting operations, policy, procedures, strategy, and audits. Cris previously worked at First Universalist Church of Denver as Executive Director, Congregational Administrator, and Interim Chief of Staff. She has a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University.
Melba Easter-Velázquez
Director of Business Pathways
Melba holds a Social Work degree from the University of Puerto Rico–Humacao, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a master’s in Organizational Leadership from CSU. With experience in Los Angeles, Vietnam, and Denver, she spent over a decade in community engagement at Adams 14 School District before leading programs at Griffith Centers. As Director of the Business Pathways Program, she blends her business and social work expertise to empower entrepreneurs.
Jamie Roth
Director of Career Pathways
Jamie is the Director of Career Pathways at Mi Casa Resource Center®, where she leads the Career Pathways Program connecting job seekers to training, career opportunities, and employer partnerships. She joined Mi Casa in 2020 as Manager of Resource Development and later became Assistant Director of Impact Strategy, guiding the redesign of the organization’s customer relationship management system. Jamie holds a Master’s in Public Administration and is passionate about creating pathways that help individuals achieve long-term success while strengthening communities.
