Mi Casa Resource Center® receives Good Jobs Challenge Grant

Denver, CO – On August 3, 2022, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced that UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, was awarded a four-year, $11.4 million grant as part of the $500 million Good Jobs Challenge funded by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Mi Casa Resource Center® is one of two regional leads supporting UnidosUS in delivering this essential work.

The Good Jobs Challenge grants, administered by the Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration, will support workforce development programs that will place over 50,000 Americans in quality, family-sustaining jobs. 

Since 1976, Mi Casa has been creating pathways to opportunity. As an affiliate of UnidosUS, Mi Casa will be the regional lead for human resources and medical administration career and education pathways in the Denver Metro area. Mi Casa will work with Community College of Aurora, Arapahoe Community College, Metropolitan State University Denver, and employers across Denver Metro to support vulnerable job seekers grow in their careers. Per Mi Casa’s CEO, Angeles Ortega, “We are thrilled to be a part of UnidosUS’ work under the Economic Development Administration. With this financial investment, Mi Casa can grow to provide even more workforce solutions for the business community and work towards building generational wealth for our jobseekers here in Denver.”

I’m proud of the work Mi Casa is doing and I was honored to help deliver funding for their high-quality, competitive training program.”

“By integrating industry in every step of the talent development process, these awardees are focused on supporting underserved communities in diverse areas across the country, helping to remove systemic barriers for workers and connecting employers with the trained workforce they need to grow and sustain competitive local economies,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Castillo.
