The Spark that Started it All
In 1976, the vision of seven mothers and one father for a better future came to life with the creation of Mi Casa Resource Center. For five decades, Mi Casa has built a legacy of economic stability that spans generations. From Career and Business Pathways programs to fostering education and ingenuity, Mi Casa values individuals’ potential and is fully committed to continued prosperity for generations to come.
1976
With a dream and a vision to create a place where women could aspire for more and create better futures for their families, seven mothers and one father founded Mi Casa Resource Center. 1976 became the spark of Mi Casa’s long trajectory of advancing family prosperity.
1989
In partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Mi Casa successfully launched Colorado’s only Women’s Business Center (WBC). Aimed at supporting entrepreneurs at all stages of business development, Mi Casa has provided training and support to help launch hundreds of Latino-owned businesses. Later in 2017, Mi Casa was named Women Business Center of the year out of over 115 WBCs across the country.
2000
Mi Casa’s success expands nationally. President Bill Clinton visited Mi Casa to meet with staff and participants and announce new transportation funding for Welfare-to-Work families. This visit highlighted Mi Casa’s commitment to creating paths of economic success for youth and adults.
2012
Established under the America Invents Act and sponsored by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mi Casa’s ProBoPat program was created to provide free patent preparation and filing assistance to aspiring inventors, fueling creativity and helping them turn their ideas into protected patents.
2017
Mi Casa has a new home! In July 2017, Mi Casa moved to Denver’s Westwood neighborhood. Our new home offers state-of-the-art technology, accessible training rooms and spaces where we can continue nurturing the flame that ignites the futures of generations to come.
Present and Future
Fifty years of passion and collaboration have carried us here. Now, we carry that momentum forward. We are committed to 50 more years of economic transformation, ensuring that the flame of opportunity burns brightly for generations to come.
